Saskatchewan, UFO dead
zone?
Or
Hot spot?
By: Steven G MacLeod
Saskatchewan a land locked
prairie province of Canada whose residents, can be
proud to live in the nations breadbasket. With a population of 1.13
million and a landmass of 651,900 square kilometer this equates to
around 2 people every square kilometer, think about the everyday
events that you don't notice going on within your own house and scale
that up to what could be going on around us with no one there to
notice or perhaps UFOs are just rare in Saskatchewan.
Between 1949 and 1981
Saskatchewan has 572 UFO reports open to public view online at
www.collectionscanada.gc.ca
compare that with Saskatchewan's next door neighbours Alberta with
963 reported sightings between 1949-1981, and Manitoba with 938
sightings between 1949-1981, you can see that Saskatchewan's
neighbours have more reported sightings by a fair margin.
With Alberta this makes
sense as it has the largest population of the prairie provinces at
4.15 million which works out to around 6 people every square
kilometre meaning a lot more eyes to witness unusual phenomenon when
those events take place.
Manitoba however has a
similar population to Saskatchewan with 1.28 million meaning roughly
2 people per square kilometre yet the number of reported sightings is
much closer to that of Alberta's which raises the question of why?
Is this purely related to
population or are UFO's giving Saskatchewan little attention compared
to the other provinces? Like most of the questions raised about the
paranormal an answer of “yes” or “no” just isn't possible so
we are left to theorize. My theory is that UFOs how we traditionally
think of them as intelligently controlled flying objects, where they
come from or what causes them are not important, they do not appear
to or have any reason to recognize national, provincial, or state
borders therefore the drop in sightings around the area that makes
up less populace Saskatchewan makes sense. What about the high
number of sightings in Manitoba? This could possibly be attributed to
the fact that since 1922 the provinces capital of Winnipeg has been
home to CFB Winnipeg a Royal Canadian Air Force Base and the Canadian
Air Division Headquarters and Canadian NORAD Region Headquarters and
as popular UFO-logy lore goes, where the air force is so are the
UFOs.
To better illustrate this
the latest sightings reported to www.nuforc.org
that range between 1999 and 2017 fall more in line with this
population theory, Saskatchewan had 183, Alberta had 496, and
Manitoba had 209. Perhaps 40 or 50 years ago some new military
aircraft was being tested and based at CFB Winnipeg? Accounting for
the higher number of sightings between 1949-1981.
So then does this mean we
are being avoided like the plague or worse yet ignored? Or is there
activity happening all around us all the time but there is just no
one there to see it?
